Passing Down the Gift of Literacy
Literacy is more than a school subject. It is one of the primary ways knowledge, wisdom, and culture are passed from one generation to the next. Every reader inherits the thoughts of those who came before them, and every teacher plays a role in helping students enter that inheritance.
Cultivating Minds and Hearts
My name is Josue Sosa, an educator and lay minister from Massachusetts with ten years of experience in urban education. I hold a BA in Education from the University of Puerto Rico and am currently completing an MA in Reading Education (K–12) at Grand Canyon University. My work centers on literacy intervention, reading comprehension, and helping struggling readers build the confidence and skills necessary to engage with complex texts and ideas.
My experience in the classroom has shown me that literacy growth rarely happens through isolated lessons. It happens through intentional instruction, thoughtful collaboration with teachers, and consistent support for students and families. As I continue developing as a literacy specialist, my goal is to help build environments where reading is not only taught effectively but valued as a lifelong tool for learning and reflection.
